Battery Bird
0.00
Santo Domingo Battery Bird from the Kewa Pueblo. These iconic birds where created in the late 1930's as inexpensive tourist souvenirs usually sold for only a few dollars. Oral history labels these types of birds as being made of recycled battery casings or records and the red and white from melted plastic utensils, straws and toothbrushes - though the materials are hard to truly identify. We feel this bird is c.1950's and strung with simple white trade beads that really make the bird pop.
